2A's Last Week at a Glance June 1 - 9, 2010 RELIGION: We will be discussing the stories of Jesus in the Bible, and creating a project in which the students retell their favorite stories. Students will also be creating a poster to take home at the end of the year which will encourage them to continue praying over the summer. MATH: We continue with Chapter 10 - Shapes and Geometry. We will discuss sides, corners, faces, cones, cubes, rectangular prisms, cylinders, and the term 'congruent'. Students will use manipulatives and geoboards for these lessons. We are having a lot of fun playing Triple Digit Subtraction Jenga! The tower is still standing! SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES: In Science, we will have an review of everything they learned this year. In Social Studies, continue with oral reports of the 50 States. Reading: Reading logs are due this week. Students will continue with their oral reading projects this week. A list of all Second grade Spelling words will come home. The children will participate in a Second Grade Spelling Bee with 2B. The top three in 2A will work with the top three of 2B. This is a fun, community building activity for the end of the year. The Spelling Bee will take place on Friday. ILA: Students will write in their journals daily. Be sure to ask about the topics!

Any time-sensitive matters should be directed through the office, and a message will get to me. This has been a terrific year! I have truly enjoyed working with your children and watching them grow in so many ways! I hope they keep their minds and bodies active throughout the summer, and enjoy their well-earned vacation!
