MRS. BINKER'S BOOK BEAT
Our Library is a very busy place!

We just recently concluded the annual 8th Grade Scrabble Tournament during lunch in the library. March Madness brackets have nothing on us! 35 eighth graders participated this year. You are welcome to stop in the library and view our bracket. Tyler Hoagland and Mike Hanes defeated Rachel Jackson and Lauren Dundore for the championship. Congrats to all who joined in this fun and educational activity!

General Mills Boxtops for Education

We are happy to announce the winners of our Spring Homeroom contest. Congratulations to 8B! They collected over 3,000 boxtops (Mrs. Binker stopped counting at 3,000)! Each boxtop is worth $.10, so they actually contributed over $300.00 to our library fund so we can purchase new books. As a thank you to 8B, they were treated to a pizza lunch by Mrs. Binker. Thank you to all who sent in boxtops for this contest. Our next contest will be in the fall. Keep clipping over the summer!

Preschool Storytime
Our preschool storytime was treated to a special speaker in March. Mrs. Linda Stoner, Children's Librarian at the Simpson Public Library came and did a presentation on this year's "Pennsylvania One Book Every Young Child" selection "Whose Shoes?" by Stephen R. Swinburne. All children attending received a complimentary copy of the book donated by The Friends of the Simpson Library. Any child entering kindergarten in the fall of 2011 is welcome to join us. Please call the school at 766-2564, or email Mrs. Binker to register.
