Introduction:

This lesson is designed to help you find information about companies you may want to invest in during the Stock Market Game. You will learn about major companies and their stock while doing this activity. Each student will be responsible for doing research and will be able to participate in the Stock Market Game after completing the assignment.

The Task:

Each student will have to research information about a company and its stock to prepare for the Stock Market Game. You will be given a worksheet that has questions that must be answered. The information that you will find will help you and your team determine which stocks your team will want to invest in.

Process:

1. Each student will receive a worksheet. In order to complete it, each student must do research. Newspaper, on-line materials and links to companies from this site can be used to do the research.

2. Each student must research four different companies. That means that each group will have information on at least 20 different companies. You must communicate with the members of your group to ensure that no one is researching the same company.

3. You can click on the companies listed below. When you click on the company's name, it will directly link you with the company's investor relations web page. This is where you should find the information that is needed to complete the worksheet. If there is a company that you are interested in but it is not listed, you may click on Google and it will let you search Google for the name of the company. You will have to go to the company's home page and look for investor, investor relations, business, or finance sections of the web site. This is where the information you need will be found. Not all companies have stock available and you may not find any investor information.

Evaluation:
Each student must complete both sides of the worksheet. If the worksheet is not completed, the student will not participate in the Stock Market Game until the worksheet is completed.
